Coachella ‘24: inside look on weekend 1, hit or miss?

Coachella ‘24: inside look on weekend 1, hit or miss?

Tickets sales? Not their best.
Hype and buzz? And all that jazz!
Technicalities? Less than flawless.
What about the rest? music is the success & surprises settled the nest.

In a controversial critique of what went down during the first weekend of iconic Californian outdoor-desert festival, Coachella suffered from quite the issues - logistically - balanced with musical richness and outstanding performance delivery, surprise appearances and band reunions that put the festival back into the equation.

Star-power headliners Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, and Tyler, the Creator take to the stage.

Let’s first take a look at the two-weekend similar timetables - a strategy adopted by founders Paul Tollett & Rick Van Santen based on the high demand by festival attendees during its genesis:

Coachella’s 7 pillars are celebrity sightings, the artists, fashion, surprise factors, glorious food galore, the exciting vibe and the social media live streaming. What was a hit & what was a miss during weekend 1?

Let’s take a look at some of the worst dressed artists - the fashionistas had their say! You're going to be shocked about this, no doubt!

Gwen Stefani

Shakira

Kesha

Barry Keoghan

Who graced the “Coachella Catwalk”? No other than iconic fashion magazine Vogue rounded up some of these hot outfits.

Megan Fox

Paris Hilton

Rihanna

Katy Perry

Away from the runway and into the music mayhem. Surprise, surprise!

No Doubt reunites for a massive comeback since their Coachella 2015 performance.

The set list delivered all the band’s greatest hits: “Don’t Speak,” “It’s My Life,” “Just a Girl” and more. The crowd roared as No Doubt delivered what is deemed as an unforgettable performance.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce danced like royalty.

Coachella was definitely on the agenda of Taylor Swift & boyfriend Travis Kelce as Taylor is currently on a two-month break from her Eras Tour, and was up and close with Kelce as they watched performances by Jack Antonoff, Ice Spice, Dom Dolla, John Summit.

From Taylor Swift and Travis Scott to Justin and Hailey Bieber, Will Smith, Billie Eilish and Rihanna and more, Coachella is all about the “who’s who” of A-list stars.

Will Smith makes a surprise Men in Black appearance with J Balvin.

The 55-year-old actor came out dressed as his character Agent J as he performed his title track from the 1997 film making it a

blockbuster cameo at Coachella.

Lana del Rey welcomes Billie Eilish for a Coachella duet.

They performed two songs together: Eilish’s 2016 song “Ocean Eyes” and Del Rey’s hit “Video Games,” from her 2012 album Born to Die.

Kesha slams Diddy in a surprise Coachella-twisted “TiK ToK” performance.

During Renee Rapp’s performance Sunday afternoon, Kesha joins the singer on stage for a twist rendition of her 2010 hit changing up

the lyrics from “wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy” to a not as equally flattering metaphor.

Adding more drama to the surprising lyric changes, fashionable revelations and out-of-this-world duets, tech difficulties were a less

enjoyable part of the festivities.

Grimes unfortunately didn’t have the performance she was expecting at Coachella as she stopped her

set three times to apologize while the crowd smothered her with cheers of encouragement.

Due to difficulties in controlling her tracks’ speed in the live mixing, the DJ lost it on the microphone as she cussed at the festival’s

equipment.

Nelly Furtado’s fall

Nelly Furtado exhibited finesse and professionalism in the way she shook off a fall during a surprise appearance in Dom Dolla’s set.

With a bloody thumbs up and a Furtado laugh, the singer posted a video on her Instagram Stories to brush off the injury.

On a more positive note, here are more stage appearances highlights at the legendary valley music and arts festival.

Olivia Rodrigo appeared on stage to sing “Bathwater” alongside Stefani.

Doja Cat brought out A$AP Rocky and 21 Savage during her set.

Coachella introduced their newest stage Quasar as part of their desert roster = more artists, extended

sets.

Let’s have a look at what Quasar has witnessed during weekend 1 and what it will bring on for weekend 2:

As we wrap up the ins and outs of the first weekend of Coachella, whoever made it to Indio, California is in the preps to dive into the

second weekend starting tomorrow.

Couldn’t plan this trip? Make sure to tune into Coachella’s live streaming videos here to get a feel of the thrill of the action, otherwise
